Diversity is no longer just about ethnicity
In a recent Media Post article, Tara J. Frank, vice president for multicultural strategy at Hallmark talked about the new meaning of Diversity in contemporary America.
“Diversity is no longer just about ethnicity,” says Tara. Tara analyzes not only the dynamics of ethnic families but their interactions with each other in mixed-race marriages and their interaction with other families of different backgrounds. In this article, Millennials are defined as a culturally diverse audience, taking into consideration that their family dynamics and social interactions are more diverse than in any previous generation thanks to urban settings that provide opportunities for multicultural coexistence.
“Today, 43% of Millennial moms are non-white. More than one-half of the babies born today are non-white. One out of every four children born in America is Hispanic. And Latina moms are embracing both American culture and Latino traditions. The increase in the Latino community in America is also having its effect on non-Latina moms. Think food, for example. All Millennial moms love to try new things, and enjoy the distinction that other cultures bring.
